Troubleshooting Kairo
Nearby detection does not react
- 1
Check both phones
Bluetooth must be on. Both phones should show Kairo’s foreground-service notification and a current app version.
- 2
Check the connection
Kairo Moments must be enabled. Review the selected Notify when proximity and look for a yellow trust warning.
- 3
Check Android permissions
Allow Nearby Devices and notifications. If the foreground service is absent, open Kairo once.
- 4
Review battery controls
Allow background activity on phones that aggressively stop foreground work. Do not use restricted battery mode for Kairo.
- 5
Refresh after reinstall
If either person reinstalled Kairo or changed phone, refresh both directions with current Kairo Codes.
Find or Say hi is not delivered
Both phones must be nearby, connected with current device trust, and running compatible command support. Check notification permission. Find also requires the receiving connection to allow Flare requests. A request that reaches its expiry must be sent again; Kairo does not keep retrying forever.
Backup setup or restore fails
Confirm internet and Google Play services are available, then use Try again. Choose a Google account allowed to use Kairo. For restore, enter the exact recovery code associated with the selected backup. Kairo refuses an archive that cannot be authenticated, decrypted, or structurally verified.
A moment has no location
Location tagging must be enabled before the moment, with Android permission and device location services available. Kairo makes a short bounded attempt around the event; it does not continuously poll long after people may have separated.
Camera or media does not work
Check camera permission and available storage. If the camera fails in every app, restart the phone and check the manufacturer camera service; that indicates a device-level issue rather than a Kairo-only failure. Missing media after an external deletion or incomplete restore falls back without removing the linked memory.
Send a diagnostic report
Open Profile → App settings → Report a problem. Review the consent explanation, choose the affected area, and send the generated email. Kairo strips known sensitive values and includes bounded recent diagnostics, not your notes, photos, precise coordinates, Kairo Codes, or encryption secrets.
