Merak Privacy Policy

Information you choose to add

Merak may store information that you enter or select, including:

• idea titles, descriptions, categories, tags, lists and milestones;
• names and email addresses of people you associate with an idea;
• place names, addresses, map identifiers and coordinates;
• completion dates, memory notes and selected or captured photographs; and
• preferences such as App Lock and onboarding status.

This content is stored in Merak’s private app storage on your device. Chaosphere Apps does not currently operate an account system or server that receives a copy. Saved email addresses are metadata only; Merak does not send invitations or messages to them.

Online services and data sharing

Merak’s core saved content remains on your device, but the app should not be considered completely offline. Internet access may be used for place search, maps and future optional exploration services.

When you use place search or maps, requests are processed by Google Maps Platform and Google Places. Google may receive the request and technical information such as your IP address, device or app information under the Google Privacy Policy . Merak does not use those services to continuously track your location.

Information is sent to another app or service only when you take an explicit action, such as opening a place in a maps app, sharing text or a scrapbook image, or saving an image to your gallery. The recipient handles that information under its own privacy practices.

Photos, camera and authentication

You decide whether to add a photo to a memory. Merak asks Android to open the camera or system photo picker and copies the selected result into private app storage. It does not scan your photo library or capture images in the background.

If you enable App Lock, Android performs biometric or device-credential authentication. Merak receives only the authentication result; it does not receive or store your fingerprint, face data, PIN or biometric template.

Retention and deletion

Your content remains on your device until you remove it or uninstall Merak. Removing an idea also removes its Merak-managed child items, memories and privately stored memory photos. Removing a person unlinks that person from ideas but does not remove the ideas.

Scrapbooks or images exported to your gallery or another app must be deleted from those locations separately. Automatic cloud backup is currently disabled, so device loss, app removal or clearing app data may permanently remove content that has not been exported.

Security

Merak uses Android private app storage, disables cleartext network traffic and can use the device’s biometric or screen-lock protection when you enable App Lock. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Children’s privacy

Merak is not directed to children under 13, and Chaosphere Apps does not knowingly collect children’s personal information through an account or developer-operated server.

Future changes

Merak may add optional online exploration, synchronization or backup features. If a feature changes what information is collected, used or shared, this policy will be updated before it becomes available. Material changes will be identified by a revised effective date and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
