Moments, Timeline, and Memory Books
From detection to memory
When a trusted connection is detected within your chosen proximity, Kairo records a moment. Continued detections extend the same session instead of creating repeated entries. A meaningful separation allows a later crossing to become a new moment.
Both phones detect independently. Bluetooth and Android background behavior can cause small differences between two timelines; one phone never silently writes a memory into the other phone’s database.
Favorites
Mark the sessions you most want to revisit. Favorite status stays private on your phone.
Short notes
Add a private note about why a moment mattered. Notes describe a memory; they are not public messages.
Photos and clips
Capture a photo or short clip while together, or attach selected media to a specific session.
Optional locations
Store approximate location samples with moments when location tagging is enabled.
Photos and short clips
The camera action appears while a connection is nearby and attaches captured media to the current or most recent eligible session. The moment detail sheet also lets you attach media later. Photos and clips remain linked to their moment, while the Timeline media carousel provides a combined recent view for that connection.
Kairo stores optimized private copies in app storage. A media library groups larger histories by date and loads them in bounded pages. Opening an item lets you return to its linked memory. Removing an accidental attachment does not alter the rest of the session.
Location samples
Location tagging is opt-in. Kairo makes a short, bounded location attempt around a moment rather than polling forever. During a longer session, changed approximate positions can be stored as multiple route samples. Exact place names are not required.
Monthly Memory Books
Memory Books turn one month with a connection into a private recap. They are filled from existing on-device data rather than stored as another duplicate history. Depending on available memories, a book may show:
- Moment count and time together
- Longest stretch and active story days
- Favorites, selected notes, and Say hi moments
- Route samples and a chosen background photo
Memory Posters create shareable layouts from details you select. Poster generation happens on the phone. Exact coordinates are not drawn on the poster.
Timeline and Memory Archive
The main Timeline focuses on recent activity and a current-month snapshot so years of history do not overwhelm the screen. Memory Archive lets you browse older months and filter memories with notes or favorites without loading every row into memory. Find and Say hi activity expires after 30 days; memory sessions are retained separately.
