Radar, nearby moods, and Around

Use Radar for trusted connections, temporarily discover opted-in Kairo users with Around, and understand what signal distance can and cannot tell you.

Radar for trusted connections

Radar is the focused view for people already connected to you. It visualizes approximate signal distance, not an exact map position. Signal strength can change with walls, pockets, crowds, phone orientation, radio interference, and device hardware.

When a trusted connection is nearby, their current compact mood can appear separately from distance and remain stable through brief packet gaps. Mood is carried inside Kairo’s existing compact presence packet and is not a free-text broadcast.

Around mode

Around temporarily expands Radar to include nearby Kairo users who are not connected to you. It runs only while the Around experience is active in the foreground, caps displayed people to keep work bounded in dense venues, and fetches only compact public profile details.

They can seeYour public Kairo profile only when Show me Around is enabled.
Never shownExact coordinates, connection list, notes, memories, photos, or private Timeline.
Not availableFind, Flare, Say hi, or connection requests for unknown Around users.

Manage visibility

Open Profile and use Show me Around to control whether other Around users may see your display name, avatar, and mood. You may look at Around without making your own profile visible. Turning visibility off prevents future public profile responses.
